I was recently interviewed for HowtoBecome.TV by Jayce Broda, a social entrepreneur in his own right, who aspires to “tell stories of those in the business of change.” It is an honor to be included. I hope you enjoy my very first interview on social entrepreneurship, social enterprise, and building a career in the social economy.

I have heard for a while that the economic future of Canada depends on “green” jobs. According to the article What is a green job? by GoodWork Canada, a green job doesn’t just have to be in a ‘green’ sector like solar or wind energy. A green job can be with business, nonprofit organizations, government or education – as long as it genuinely contributes to a more sustainable world. With such a broad array of opportunities, green job seekers like myself are left wondering “if they’re so important, where are these green jobs?” Truth is, they’re out there. You just need to know where to look.

Here are 10 websites for finding green jobs in Canada:

1. GoodWork Canada

“GoodWork is Canada’s most popular green job site. Since 2001, we’ve been connecting passionate, green-minded people with opportunities to contribute and be employed. We’re best known for our listings of green jobs, contracts, internships, and other opportunities. These are available on the web and by e-mail. We also provide a unique collection of networking resources for job seekers, employers and interested others. GoodWork is located on the web at

“ is an online resource founded in 2007 that we affectionately call Canada’s Environmental Outpost. Today, the ‘Cabin has become Canada’s largest online source for environmental opportunities, thanks to partnerships with Canadian organizations and businesses. When we built, we did it with a genuine passion and investment to bring a professional-level job site of this nature to Canadians.”

“CharityVillage is Canada’s supersite for the nonprofit sector. Every day, you’ll find more than 3,500 pages of news, jobs, resources, how-to articles, volunteer and event listings, educational opportunities, and much more.”

“Launched in 2009 Renewable Energy Jobs has the broadest reach of any global green job site focused on the renewable energy anywhere. We are extremely passionate about doing all we can to support the phenomenal growth of the renewable energy sector. 10. Workopolis

Almost everyone in Canada has seen or heard of Workopolis. They feature around 40,000 jobs every single day. While I would like to see a dedicated “green jobs” section added to Workopolis to make it easier to wade through, you can get by with text searches for any of these Keywords: “Corporate Social Responsibility”, Corporate Responsibility, Sustainability, philanthropy, energy, hydro, waste, conservation, environment, renewable

There is an extensive list of green resources at Ecoportal Canada: Environmental Directories, Portals & Networks at It is a great starting point to find environmental groups, organizations, people, places, activities, news, and information.
